Ultrasonic Testing – UT

In the ultrasonic testing, very short pulse waves are transmitted into the material to identify internal defects or to determine the characteristics of the material. Typically, this technique is also used to determine the thickness of materials, for example, to control the thickness of the material due to corrosion. Ultrasonic testing is often used to check steel materials, alloys, and is also used to check concrete surfaces, wood, plastics and composite materials, even though with much lesser accuracy. A typical application is in the field of engineering, aerospace and automotive industry.

There are two ways of receiving ultrasound waves, reflection (pulse echo) and attenuation. When reflected, the probe transmits and simultaneously receives a reflection. Reflection occurs on the second wall of the object under test or inside the material. The device displays these data in the form of a signal with amplitude representing the arrival time of the reflection. At the same time, one probe transmits a signal and the second senses the amount of signal that arrives. Possible defects reduce the amount of transmitted waves, thus indicating the existence of defects in the object.

ALL TESTS ARE ACCREDITED AND PERFORMED BY THE PERSONNEL WITH QUALIFICATION ACCORDING TO STN EN 9712 LEVEL II AND III.

Ultrasound tests are carried out by modern instruments, apart from the classic ultrasound test, we also have an PA method, which also allows visualization of the monitored object with the recording, showing the shape, depth and size of the defect found. Our preference is also the readiness to perform tests within a very short time to meet the demanding and stringent requirements of our customers.
